Customization Case: Theta Axis Rotary Table Type

Customization Case: Motor Shape Change

This case introduces a shape change option for μDD motors. We can change the flange position while keeping the hollow bore, so the motor fits flat mounting layouts.

Overview

Motor shape change is available

Note: Photo shows the MDH-4018. This option is also available for other series. We can change the flange position while keeping the hollow bore.

Why This Is Needed

Some applications need the motor mounted on a flat surface rather than using a standard flange mounting. In those layouts, the standard flange geometry becomes a packaging issue. This customization supports flat mounting without giving up the hollow shaft routing.

What We Changed

We modify the motor housing shape and relocate the mounting features to match the customer’s mounting surface. The key point is that we keep the required inner diameter so you can still route cables, air lines, or shafts through the center.

Typical Uses

Because μDD motors are compact direct drive motors with high torque and a rigid shaft structure, they fit well in index tables, camera gimbals, and laser gimbals where stiffness and stable positioning matter.

Design Notes

  • Mounting face: share the flat mounting surface drawing and required bolt pattern.
  • Inner diameter: define what must pass through the bore and the required clearances.
  • Loads: confirm axial and radial loads and the moment load on the output.
  • Housing fit: confirm the outer profile limits and any cover interference.

Contact

Send us your target motor series, the mounting surface drawing, and the required hollow bore size. If you already have the surrounding mechanism layout, include it. We will review the shape change options and confirm mounting and routing feasibility.
