Encoder Replacement Support
Request for Encoder Replacement / Substitute Product
If the rotary encoder currently used in your machine has been discontinued, is difficult to obtain, or has become a long-lead-time item, Microtech Laboratory Co., Ltd. can help review possible replacement options.
Rotary encoders are critical components for position detection, speed feedback, and rotation control in FA equipment, industrial machinery, semiconductor equipment, inspection systems, and other precision machines. When replacing an existing encoder, it is important to confirm not only the resolution, but also the mounting dimensions, shaft diameter, output circuit, power supply voltage, wiring, installation method, and operating environment.
Based on the current encoder model, machine structure, and required specifications, MTL will check whether a suitable equivalent model or alternative specification can be proposed.
For Machines Where 4M Changes Must Be Minimized
In production equipment, changing a rotary encoder may affect machine validation, maintenance control, and 4M management. MTL understands that many manufacturers prefer to avoid unnecessary specification changes, especially for equipment already used in production lines.
MTL does not easily discontinue products for its own convenience. Even when component supply becomes difficult, we make every effort to propose a successor model, equivalent specification, or technically reasonable replacement option.
Encoder Selection Based on Machine Conditions
The best encoder depends on the shaft structure, available installation space, required detection accuracy, output format, environmental conditions, and cost requirements. MTL has supplied more than 3,000 types of rotary encoder specifications for various machines and applications.
Even if the full specification is not available, selection may be possible from the machine purpose, required resolution, shaft diameter, mounting method, output type, or photos of the current encoder. Drawings, nameplate photos, wiring information, and existing part numbers are useful for checking compatibility.
Example of Substitute Product Selection
Example: For Omron E6C-NN, MTL may be able to propose MAS-36-1000MT-S or another suitable model depending on the detailed specification.
Final compatibility cannot be judged only by the model name. Dimensions, shaft diameter, resolution, output circuit, power supply voltage, mounting pitch, cable direction, and operating environment must be checked before confirming the best replacement option.
Information Required for Replacement Review
To review a possible substitute model, please provide the current manufacturer name, model number, resolution, output type, power supply voltage, shaft diameter, body dimensions, mounting method, cable specification, operating environment, required quantity, and target delivery schedule.
If available, please also share drawings, datasheets, photos of the current encoder, and nameplate information. This allows MTL to check the replacement possibility more accurately.
